"Is that why you're going to make me dragon pools? So I can have more freedom?"

Honestly, he loved the idea. It made him feel safe to be himself when they were alone. In spaces that were just for them and no one else. He smiled a little more and leaned forward so he could give him a soft kiss on the lips.

"Maybe after you make them and we're sure we're alone I'll show you my real body."

"And so you can enjoy being in your element without fear of discovery."

Zishu hums into the kiss, answering it just as softly. Dragon pools. The name makes sense and he nudges their noses together.

"I would like that if you did. I am sure you are just as beautiful in your real body as you are in this one."

"I'm sure you've gathered that what I see of myself doesn't match your own vision. So I will let you decide when you see me."

Too many years of being forced to hide. Or not being wanted. Or being in the shadows of others. As confident as he was in what he could do and what he was, he wasn't nearly the same in who he was. Runyu let himself nudge noses with him again.

"I'll let you teach me how to see myself as you do. Please be patient with me while I learn."

"What you have done has been to protect yourself. Now, when it's just the two of us, you can be yourself. I am a patient man when it matters - and you matter." His arms slip around Runyu's waist to give him a little squeeze.

"Allowing yourself to listen and try, is enough. You're not alone anymore."

Not alone.

Runyu couldn't even begin to explain how much those words meant to him. Lowering his head, he rested it against the man's shoulder. A smile rested on his lips as he closed his eyes. "Thank you, Zi'er."

He wasn't sure yet what he would do here as Zishu's husband but he knew that he wanted to fulfill that duty well. Not out of obligation but instead from desire. If he could help lift some of his burdens after all Zishu was giving him then that would be enough. He was sure of it.

Zishu rests his cheek against the top of his husband's head, feeling the weight of those words. That he'd managed to say the right thing again, what his husband needs to hear. That he's never heard and believed before.

And everything he's said to this man - this dragon - has only been the truth as he sees it. He doesn't care that this was just an arrangement. He knows his heart has been claimed, and has made peace with it. He doesn't care what Runyu does...as long as the nights when he's home are theirs alone.

Suddenly he chuckles, having a thought, and rubs his cheek against the top of his husband's head. "It is a good thing we're not expected to make a public appearance for a few days. I don't think I want to be away from you for a while."

"Are you that attached to me already, Zi'er? We just met," he teased playfully, smiling a bit more. He didn't move but the amusement was clear in his voice. The joy too. Getting to spend a few days alone with him, only having them letting anyone near so they'd have food?

It sounded heavenly.

"When they do expect us again, I'll be at your side. I once was going to fulfill my duties out of obligation of this contract. I want to do it so I can be there with you now."

"Yes," he answers immediately, serious despite the admittedly rather silly reality behind it and despite the little answering smile. "It doesn't feel like we've only just met. I feel like I have known you for years."

Zishu's smile warms as he listens. "I like the idea of standing side by side with you. I'd thought this would just be an arrangement, I was prepared, too, to do my duty. Not anymore." He bucks suddenly and rolls them to settle back over his husband, wiggling his hips just a little to tease and chuckles. "Now I want you with me because I want to be with you."

Runyu gasped as he suddenly felt them move. More so since it meant his husband shifting inside him. His sensitive insides squeezed around him as he teased him, his back arching a little under him. Such a playful man...

"You'll have me. When you are leading your people or when you are alone with me." Shuddering a little now, he gave him an amused brow lift. "Should I say that this means my husband is done resting now and wants to play more though?"

Quiet words, but they say far more. He presses a kiss to pale skin and blinks slowly, peacefully at Runyu.

"Thank you for letting me in, and trusting me with yourself."

A good and kind man. One who could be like ice to the world but who would protect him from those who would hurt him or try to use him. Was he falling for him already? Runyu suspected that he was but also found he wanted to let his heart continue to do that.

Moving his fingers up his back, he traced the lines of that handsome face. He smiled at him.

"I want us to share chambers," he murmured softly. He knew it wasn't really done often among powerful people, at least not among Immortals, but he felt like he wanted to have that intimacy. To know that every time they went to sleep they would be there together.

Zishu doesn't want to be frozen with his husband. He likes the task to keep Runyu warm far more than any other. He's a man who knows his heart well enough to know there can be no one else for him now - he belongs to Runyu. First, above everyone and everything else.

He leans into those hands as they trace his face, and the spoken wish has his smile grow though it remains soft. He leans in to nudge their noses together. "Then we will." It's his preference as well, even without Runyu asking him to keep him warm.

Then we will.

Three simple words but they said so much. He'd taken in his desires and responded to them by letting him have them. It warmed him more than even the body heat of this man or the bath from earlier. It was all so simple to give him this much yet no one ever had before.

Runyu gazed up at him and didn't notice that a single tear slid down. To be so cared for and wanted... He just didn't know how to respond. This meant the world to him.
